We see its widespread limbs, its lush foliage, its resilience against the wind, but we don’t see what lies beneath the earth. We don’t see the roots—those that have pushed through the darkness, broken through the hardened soil, inching their way forward with infinite patience. We don’t see their silent struggle against gravity, their hunger for water, their surrender to the depths. And yet, without them, the tree would not exist. Roots are like those moments in life when we are plunged into uncertainty, when we feel trapped in the mud, where every movement takes effort. We resist, we sink deeper.
